Ventura County's Master Children's Choir

Here in beautiful Ventura County, musical culture exists alongside the natural beauty of the hillsides as the sounds of children singing fills the air.  Here, in some of the most historic venues of the area, the Master Children’s Choir performs as one of the finest children's choirs in the area. From the historic San Buenaventura Mission, to historic churches throughout  the county, to the famed LIbby Bowl in Ojai, the choir performs with pristine clarity and resonance both classical and contemporary music, especially written for children's voices, and designed to engage audiences of all ages.

 Vision

The Master Children’s Choir was founded by the Ventura County Master Chorale and Opera Association as a choral organization dedicated to the training of children in the classical choral arts.  The organization is committed to giving children quality vocal training and music education, as well as professional level performance training.

Touring

A companion goal to offering excellent choral training, is the goal to offer cultural touring opportunities to the choristers. The choir toured NYC in May of 2012, and sang in the New York Children’s Festival. The Master Children’s Choir won first place in the Anaheim Heritage Festival in May of 2010, and won a Gold Award there in 2011. The choir hopes to attend the International Children’s Festival in Canterbury, England in July of 2014. Plans are currently underway to attend the Junior Choir Festival in San Francisco in May of 2013.

Three-kids

Training

The vocal training in the choir utilizes the bel canto style of Italian singing, which is the basis for good vocal production. As members of the choir, children gain an appreciation for great singing and enjoy concertizing and sharing their music with others.

Performance

Locally, the choir performs a beautiful, traditional Christmas Concert at the San Buenaventura Mission. Each spring, the children enjoy singing in the Ventura Unifed School District Choir Festival, as well as the CASA Camarillo Showcase.  Their culminating event each year is their annual Spring Concert, held first at the historic Community Presbyterian Church in Ventura, and then the following night at the First Baptist Church of Camarillo. The concert features all grade levels of the choir, each presenting their own repertoire, and culminates with a grand finale in which all choir groups sing together.  All concerts are open to the public and tickets are available online.
